SMYTZER registered his first win for the stable at the Sunshine Coast to continue his strong form since arriving in Queensland.
With a pair of runner-up finishes to his name from his last two starts, SMYTZER had been knocking on the door and he burst through in the Class 1 Plate (1600m) at the midweek metropolitan meeting.
Racing in the colours made famous by Makybe Diva, the son of I Am Invincible never gave his rivals a chance under an excellent ride by Ryan Maloney.
After breaking smartly from barrier seven, the pair took control from the outset and having slackened the pace mid-race, SMYTZER had more than enough petrol left in the tank to win by two lengths eased down.
The victory was SMYTZER’s first since he won on debut in Victoria in April 2021 and took his prizemoney earnings close to $80,000.
Congratulations to Tony Santic and the team at Makybe Racing, who bred the 4YO and own him outright.
