RUINART MAKES GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION

RUINART made a perfect start to her career in Queensland as she shed her maiden status with a win on debut for the stable at the Sunshine Coast on Melbourne Cup Day.

The recent arrival from Sydney had run second in three of her last four starts before joining the team, and she broke through at the first time of asking in the Maiden Plate (1000m) on her new home track.

Given a patient ride from barrier one by Matthew Powell, RUINART looked to be facing a tough task at the 400-metre mark.

But much to the delight of favourite backers, she let down impressively and was too good for her rivals with a one length victory.

The 4YO mare collected a cheque for $14,500 to take her career prizemoney past $50,000, many congratulations to her owners: Mr R A Pegum, Mr P A Cook, Miss L A Christie, Mr S L Malcolm, Ms J D Taylor, Mr S J Bennett, Mr B P Keeble and Mr A Mackenzie.
