REMLAPS ANGEL relished the step up to 1200m second-up to score an impressive victory at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
The mare had finished third on resumption over 1050m at the end of July, and she took plenty of improvement from that first-up run to register her second career win.
Despite a tardy start, the daughter of Hellbent mustered quickly to settle just behind the leaders in the early part of the Benchmark 58 Handicap.
After waiting for the gaps to open in the home straight, apprentice jockey Tiffani Brooker was rewarded for her patience as REMLAPS ANGEL sliced through the field to score by three lengths.
“She didn’t begin all that well, so we didn’t end up in the position we had intended,” said Brooker.
“But to her credit she travelled really nicely, we just needed to find a bit of luck in the straight and when we did, she put them away nicely. She shows us a lot at home so we know she can gallop, and it was good to see her do it on raceday.”
Victory took the 4YO’s earnings past $40,000 from six starts, many congratulations to the team at Aramco Racing and all her owners: Mystery Downs, Mrs C M Cook, Mr P M Hodgens, Mr W A Palmer, Mr T N Lawler, Mrs W M Palmer, Mr B R Palmer, Mr N G Palmer and Dr C G Lawler.
