SLIPPIN' JIMMY's first run over 1400m produced a comfortable victory as the 3YO took his career earrings past $50,000 at the Sunshine Coast.
After a hard-fought win over 1200m at Kilcoy a fortnight prior, the son of Pariah’s victory in Sunday’s Benchmark 62 Handicap (1400m) was a one-act affair.
Taken straight to the front after a clean getaway, SLIPPIN’ JIMMY got into a nice rhythm under Ryan Wiggins.
He had several of his rivals chasing hard turning into the home straight, and Wiggins had the luxury of easing him down near the line as the pair cruised to victory by two lengths to carry SLIPPIN’ JIMMY’s earnings to $54,450 from six starts.
“It was a pretty painless win,” said Wiggins.
“He probably wanted to race the two horses outside us at the start, so he used up a little bit of petrol early on which may have told late. He still won nicely and was too good for them, but he might be better over six furlongs as the 1400 metres probably sees him out. He was a little bit out on his feet the last 150 metres, but he still stuck on well for the win.”
Many congratulations to his owners: Mr M W Cook, Mr K L Hill, Albury's Own, Mrs J Dahl, Ms S M Reguson, DVD Racing, Mr S N Travers, Mr M Speers, Mr S Dodds, Mr T J Brown, Mr G Doherty, Mr K C Bell and High Calibre Racing.
