It was a case of double Doomben delight for MY SNOW QUEEN as the in-form mare sealed back-to-back city wins to complete a Saturday double for the stable.
After REMLAPS ANGEL’s Gold Coast romp earlier in the day, MY SNOW QUEEN was made to work much harder for her victory but the 6YO just got her nose down on the line to shoot past $350,000 in career earnings.
MY SNOW QUEEN’s seventh win extended her record this calendar year to three victories and four minor placings from her eight starts, a streak which has reaped more than $200,000 in earnings.
The daughter of Star Turn is in career best form and after leading all the way two weeks ago, she showed her versatility with a come-from-behind win in the Open Handicap (1110m).
MY SNOW QUEEN settled just off the speed and after piercing through the field under apprentice Tahlia Fenlon, she just held on for victory by the narrowest of margins.
The mare will now head for a well-earned rest, with a view to bringing her back in the spring to chase further riches for her ownership group.
“She’s had a wonderful preparation,” said David.
“She pinned the ears back and really wanted the win, which was great to see. We will now give her a couple of weeks in the paddock, which she really enjoys, and then we want to get her ready for her first Stakes race later in the year. It’s been an amazing prep and I’m sure she’ll come back as good as ever.”
