MISTING recorded the stable’s fifth win from our last nine starters when the filly flew home on Wednesday to break her maiden in fine style.
The daughter of Cosmic Forse relished the step up to the Eagle Farm mile at career start number three to put herself in the frame for The NZB Kiwi (1500m), the new $3 million slot race for 3YOs which takes place at Ellerslie next March.
David revealed he has held preliminary discussions with one of the slot-holders ahead of MISTING’s outing in the QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate (1600m), and whilst there is still plenty of water to go under the bridge the filly did her prospects no harm with a dominant display under Ange Jones.
Despite missing the start by several lengths, Jones never panicked and kept her mount in a nice rhythm at the back of the pack.
After peeling her to the outside, Jones pressed the button on MISTING and she responded with a razor sharp turn of foot to mow down her rivals and win eased down.
“She missed the start again, but she definitely knows what to do at the business end of her races,” said David.
“Ange kept her nice and relaxed but I was still a bit worried at the midway stage, because it was a soft pace and she was jumping up from 1200m to the mile. But she was very dominant and found the line really well.”
Many congratulations to Bob and Debra Jones and all her owners: D M White, B R Turville, D N Gillingham and T Prodromou.
