EXCELLENT EASTER FOR RANGER ENJAY

“Surprise package” RANGER ENJAY continued the super start to his career with Vandyke Racing when he broke through second-up at the Sunshine Coast on Easter Sunday.

Having finished second on his stable debut over 1400m, the lightly-raced 5YO stretched out to the mile and promptly shed his maiden status under a textbook ride by Ryan Maloney.

The experienced jockey bided his time before moving RENJAY ENJAY into a more prominent position, and despite a bumping duel in the straight the gallant gelding still had enough petrol left in the tank to score by a long neck.

RANGER ENJAY has thrived since joining our Caloundra stables at the start of the year, and given the determined nature of the win there is every chance he will get over further ground in the near future.

“He’s been a bit of a surprise package,” said David.

“His recovery levels are amazing, and I’ve been waiting to get him up over a distance. It was a great ride by Ryan, he could’ve come four-deep round the corner but he saw the horse on the outside was struggling so he just patiently waited for the gap to open and kept him lovely and balanced.

“This horse has shown us some good signs since he arrived and his owner Kevin has been very patient. We both knew that this was going to be a crucial prep and he probably wasn’t going to have another one with us if he didn’t perform, but he’s definitely doing the job. Once he gets up to 2000 metres, you might see him in a race in town.”

Many congratulations to his owner-breeder Kevin Furst.
