XPRESSO signed off on his debut campaign for the stable with a second win at Ipswich on Labour Day.
XPRESSO will now head for a well-earned break after scoring a fifth career win in the Class 6 Handicap (1100m).
The 5YO has thrived since arriving in Queensland, winning on his stable debut last month before scoring again over the same track and trip on Monday.
Ryan Maloney had the son of Xtravagant in the box seat, with the pair hitting the front 200 metres from home and holding on comfortably to score by just under a length.
“He’s raced at Ipswich twice now and has won on both occasions, so he must like it here,” said David.
“We saw his potential as soon as he joined us, but we’re going to give him a break now because he’s done his job for this prep. It was another great ride from Ryan, he just looks so polished and balanced on a horse and he was always in control of the race.”
“It was a sit and steer job for me today,” said Maloney.
“He bounced well and we were able to take up the perfect position. I knew we had the leader covered a long way out and when I pushed the button, it was all over. He’s got ability and he wants to do it, which is a nice combination.”
Many congratulations to his owners: Mr R W Brien, Mr B Garlick, Mr A T McDonald, Mrs L A Smith, Mr L M Smith, Mr K A Mclean, Mrs L Brien, Mr J D Buchanan and Ms G Copeman.
