COLLEAGUES made a statement of intent on his return to the races with a powerful win at the Sunshine Coast on ANZAC Day.
Whilst the 5YO has winning form over 1800m, he still proved too sharp for his rivals in the 1400m Benchmark 65 Handicap to salute first-up for the first time in his career.
COLLEAGUES enjoyed a saloon passage under a confident Ryan Maloney ride, as the pair looked the winners a long way from home.
Once COLLEAGUES had engaged top gear, the only question was the margin of victory with the son of Reliable Man ultimately prevailing by two lengths to take his earnings past $80,000.
After minor placings for both JUNGLE JET (Beaudesert) and stable debutant PEACEFUL PRINCE (Sunshine Coast), it was pleasing to get a winner on the board on ANZAC Day.
Hopefully we’re in for a great prep with the handsome grey, many congratulations to his owners Robert and Debra Jones and Samuel Mayer.
