Lightly raced three-year-old LAST CHANCE SALOON unleashed a strong turn of foot to break his maiden at start No.2 at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
The son of Japanese stallion Maurice was back at the races for the first time since making his debut last June, but he made light work of the extended break with a courageous performance in the Maiden Handicap (1200m).
Having settled towards the rear of the field for the first half of the race, jockey Ryan Maloney stoked up LAST CHANCE SALOON shortly after rounding the turn.
The 3YO still had plenty of ground to make up at the 400m mark, but he knuckled down to the task in impressive fashion to overhaul the leader in the shadows of the post.
Congratulations to his owners: Mr M H White, Mrs J M White, Mr O H Goddard, Mr R Henzell, Mr D T Masters, Mr G Alvaro, Mr M S Walton, Mr P P Saad, Mr P Leontaris, Mr J M Fordham.
