BECCA GOES BANG ON DEBUT

BECCA earned a bumper QTIS payday on debut after an all-the-way win at Gatton on Friday.

The filly, who had impressed in her three trials leading into her first competitive outing, made a dream start to her racing career with a smart win which saw her connections collect a cheque for $27,950 including bonuses.

Ridden confidently by Micheal Hellyer, the daughter of Better Than Ready made the most of her fast start from the inside gate with a display of sustained speed to prevail by a length.

“It was wonderful to see her win a QTIS race like that on her debut,” said David.

“She was asked for an early effort and I really liked the way she stuck on down the straight. She was taken on early and they ran a quick first 400 metres, so full credit to her for doing it tough at both ends of the race.

“Her heart-rate was certainly up when she came back in, and she was a little slow to recover but other than that no major issues. So it was a great result and we’ll send her to Pineview for a few days to let her recover from her efforts now.”

Congratulations to her owners including Bill and Di Ouston, who bred the filly, and Shaun Flanagan who also races PROMINENT LAD: Mrs N D Ruhland, Miss P L Corfield, Mr S C Blacka, Mr C J Bloxsom, Mr T J Harry, Mr G T Cassidy, Mrs R Cassidy and Mr D E Irving.
