ORBISYN showed speed and toughness in equal measure when he carried 59.5kg to victory at Doomben on Saturday.
The gallant gelding led all the way under an inspired ride by Paul Hamblin to secure his second straight win.
Hamblin, whose only previous ride on ORBISYN also produced a victory, was able to take the son of Rich Enuff to the front from the wide gate without spending too many tickets.
ORBISYN relaxed into a lovely rhythm and had just enough petrol eft in the tank to fend off the runner-up and win by a nose.
“He was so brave,” said David after ORBISYN took his earnings past $200,000.
“Paul did everything right, he’s done a lot of work on this horse so he deserved another chance to ride him.
“It was a tough win, we use a few strategies with this horse but he was in a good place mentally so I thought he’d run well today, and thankfully that’s how it panned out.”
Many congratulations to his loyal owner Jan McMillan, who led the calls to get Hamblin back on board.
