ANTONITO FLIES FRESH AT THE FARM

ANTONITO sealed a Saturday metro stable double when he led from pillar to post at Eagle Farm.

A determined display under a typically strong ride by Noel Callow saw ANTONITO register his second career victory in the Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

The 4YO son of Sacred Falls had turned up for his return to competitive action with a sizzling trial in February, and he took that flying form to the races to follow PHILIA into the winner’s circle.

After jumping cleanly from the gates, Callow took command of the race with ANTONITO happy to set the pace at the head of affairs.

Despite being challenged for supremacy in the home straight, ANTONITO held on bravely to score by half-a-length and carry his earnings past the $50,000 mark from eight starts.

“This horse was always going to get better as he got older,” said David.

“Noel’s ridden him before and he really rated the horse well today. He kept him nice and balanced and they had enough left in the locker at the end. He’s riding well for us at the minute, so I’m happy to keep sticking him on our horses.

“This horse can sometimes get a bit worked up and do too much in his races, so you’ve always got to be kind to him. It’s a great start to his preparation and we’ll probably look to space his runs out again."

Congratulations to Mr J S Brown, Mr W G Johns, Mr R K Carbis, Mr B R Turville, Mr J P Munt, Pryde Racing, Mr A D Tonge and Mr R McNeill.
