ANNIE ONE READY extended the stable’s red-hot streak when she showed great toughness in scoring her second career victory at the Sunshine Coast.
The well-backed favourite had to dig deep to double her tally of wins in Sunday’s Benchmark 60 Handicap (1400m) on her home track.
Given a patient steer by Ryan Maloney, the filly had some work to do in the home straight but she pinned her ears back and showed a great will to win to carry her earnings to $84,800.
“The penny hasn’t quite dropped with her yet, but she won well,” said Maloney.
“She’s got a beautiful temperament, she conserves her energy nicely and nothing seems to faze her. I was a little bit concerned coming round the corner, because I didn’t think we were travelling all that well. But she really knuckled down to her task in the home straight, so there’s plenty of upside to her.”
Many congratulations to all her owners: Mr K R Bredhauer, DVD Racing, Mr A D Delacy, Mr S J Goicoechea, Mr R J Matthews and Mr R A Fletcher.
