AMITY GAL BACK TO WINNING WAYS

AMITY GAL went past $100,000 in career earnings and added to her growing CV as she returned to her winning ways with an important first Saturday Metropolitan victory at Doomben on Saturday.

Ridden by new jockey Jim Byrne, AMITY GAL took the box seat just off the lead in the early stages of the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1200m) and sprinted well to score her third win from four starts this preparation.

The two length victory extended the mare’s career record to four wins and two minor placings from her eight starts as she added further value to her resume as a broodmare prospect.

The mare is a full-sister to multiple Group 1 winner DUAIS and trainer David Vandyke believes black type beckons for AMITY GAL in the future.

“We can get black type with this girl, it’s just being a matter of being patient with her and managing her correctly,” said Vandyke.

“She’s still relatively young and there’s plenty ahead.”

Congratulations to the members of the Harris family who bred and own AMITY GAL in partnership with Matthew Irwin.
