ADALIE scored the stable’s fifth winner in the last 10 days with a tenacious performance at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.
The mare has a great affinity with the Sunny Coast surface, and she again showed her liking for her home track with a fighting victory in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000m).
From the wide gate jockey Ryan Maloney settled in midfield for the first half of the race, before slowly moving ADALIE into a more prominent position.
The 4YO still had plenty of work to do at the 400m mark, but she gradually reeled the leader in and was very strong late to score her second win at her favourite venue.
“It panned out perfectly,” said Maloney.
“She switched off beautifully underneath me, and when the time came she gave a really strong kick all the way to the line. The win should give her plenty of confidence moving forward.”
