Bering Sea and Baccarat Baby, land stable double at Eagle Farm.

A remarkable week of results was capped off in the best possible way at Eagle Farm today, with Baccarat Baby returning to racing a winner and Bering Sea landing his victory for the stable since arriving from Victoria.
“A wonderful ride by “Pug” Moloney” – was how race caller Josh Fleming described Ryan Moloney’s ride aboard Bering Sea and he was spot-on.

Settling just off midfield in the 1800m BM 70, Moloney wasn’t happy with the speed as the field passed the 800m and within a 100m, had moved quickly around those in front him to lead the field as the made the home turn and was travelling well.

Straightening for the run to the judge, Bering Sea had a length advantage over Alpine Dancer with race-favourite, Joymaker, emerging from the pack to give chase.

Try as they may though, Bering Sea was full of running and staved off the challengers to win by a half a length from Joymaker and Alpine Dancer.

Formerly raced by Lloyd Williams and trained by Robert Hickmott, Bering Sea was only having his fourth start for Vandyke Racing.

Group Three winner Baccarat Baby made her return to racing from a successful winter campaign, in a 1200m Open handicap where, after a few scratchings, saw only a field of five to contest.

Drawing barrier one, Baccarat Baby and regular rider Michael Hellyer landed in the perfect spot, third on the fence and traveling comfortable.
Turning from home, Hellyer was able to ease Baccarat Baby away from the fence and from behind the two leading runners, with nothing but clear space in front of the pair with the 300m to run.

Entering the final furlong, Baccarat Baby headed the leader Deploy and despite a Scallopini closing well late, Baccarat Baby was kept going by Hellyer, who was mindful she was first up, to win comfortably crossing the line by half a length.
